Play is children's natural means of communication and provides therapy in the most developmentally appropriate way (ages 3-10). Children can "play out" their feelings, thoughts, and experiences. Child-centered play therapy allows the child to lead their path of growth and development with the support of an empathetic, trained therapist in a safe environment.
Play therapy helps children learn about themselves and their world. Through play, children can learn that their feelings are acceptable and express them responsibly. It helps children know about and accept themselves. By creating a safe environment in the therapeutic process, children learn self-control, self-direction and that they are responsible for their choices.
